Facility planning is an important component of health care strategic planning, for it provides an accurate assessment of the institution's physical environment and its development potential. This article, the second in HCSM's series on the organizational components of strategic planning, reviews the role of facilities planning, the functional and physical evaluation, space programming, and facilities master plan in the development and implementation of the strategic plan.
