The Tropical Forestry Action Plan: regional priorities for Asia and the Pacific

A paper identifying priorities for attention which are appropriate to the specific problems and potentials of forestry development in the Asia-Pacific region within the framework of the Plan (TFAP). Although the TFAP is aimed specifically at developing countries, appropriate political, technical and financial support from industrialized nations is essential, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. Priorities are discussed for 5 subregions (Continental Southeast Asia, East Asia, Insular Southeast Asia, South Asia and Tropical Oceania) relating to: forestry in land use, forest-based industrial development, fuelwood and energy. Conservation of forest ecosystems and institutional support are also addressed.
