Elimination of salmonellas from community waste water

Because of the high loading of the waste water with Salmonellae and his central position in the salmonella-circulation the elimination of Salmonellae out of the waste water in two waste water treatment plants (activated sludge plant for biological sewage purification KBB 100 and naturally aerated waste water pond system) was studied. Both treatments neither alone nor in combination were able to eliminate the salmonellae out of the waste water satisfactory. The studies indicate that the elmination of salmonellae by using the naturally aerated waste water pond system is better than by using the activated sludge plant, especially in times of a high growing special zooplanktons.
