The membrane potential of the Anisodoris giant neurone can be regarded as the sum of an ionic diffusion potential (predicted by the constant field equation) and a potential derived from an electrogenic sodium pump; furthermore, the sodium–potassium permeability ratio, PNa/PK, seems to increase with increasing temperature1. I have examined the current–voltage relationships of this cell to determine whether similar factors affect membrane conductance and rectification.
