Simple and rapid colorimetric, spectrophotometric and fluorimetric methods for the determination of terbutaline sulfate and orciprenaline sulfate are presented. The colorimetric method is based on the reaction of these drugs with 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolone hydrazone hydrochloride in the presence of FeCl3 with a direct measurement at 478 nm. The spectrophotometric determinations are based on the measurement of the difference in absorbance (.DELTA. A) in acid and alkaline media. The fluorometric method is based on the measure of the fluorescence intensity of both drugs in a 0.1 N H2SO4 solution at 315 nm using a radiation of 280 nm.
