1. The laser Doppler flowmeter (Periflux) was evaluated using albino rabbit for analyzing the uveal capillary blood flow through sclera. 2. The thickness of albino rabbit's sclera, adjacent to the corneal limbus, averaged 0.36 mm. The permeability of the laser light through sclera averaged 18.9%. Using Periflux, the blood flow of the skin in human finger could be analyzed through the scleral tissue of the rabbit; thus in a vivo study, this blood flow measured through sclera of the albino rabbit was considered the whole capillary blood flow from uvea to conjuctiva, as part of internal carotid arterial blood flow. 3. After temporary cut-off of the blood flow in the common carotid artery was released, capillary response in internal carotid artery through sclera showed no-reflow phenomena, and external carotid artery through auricula showed rebound phenomena. 4. Periflux, being non-surgical and continuous in measuring of capillary blood flow, may be of utility value in opthalmological studies.
