Twelve patients (8 males, 4 females) aged 54-65 (mean 62.8 years) suffering from hypertension and stable exertion angina were treated with captopril after having undergone coronarography not more than 6 months prior to the study. The effect of captopril was assessed by measuring ST depression during exercise at the cycling ergometer in comparison with basal conditions (only hydrochlorothiazide treatment which was maintained throughout the trial) and with alpha-methyldopa treatment.
