The catalytic constants of the amoxicillin hydrolysis reaction for the species participating in the degradation of this antibiotic in the presence of an acetic acid-acetate regulating mixture have been calculated. It is concluded that the use of this buffer has advantages over the citric acid-citrate buffer since the catalytic constants are lower.
