In recent years there has been an increase in the incidence of neonatal hypertension. Most cases are due to thromboembolism or narrowing of the renal arteries, usually in high risk, low birth weight infants. Failure of antihypertensive drugs to control the hypertension usually leads to catheterization of the umbilical artery and renal resection if an injured kidney is found. Recently, successful control of neonatal hypertension with high-dose antihypertensive drug therapy was reported. A case of renovascular hypertension in a premature infant which was controlled by medication, is presented.
