Surgery of carotid gland tumors

A study of 32 patients showed that bilateral carotid angiography and computed tomography were necessary to establish a diagnosis of carotid body tumor. Patients with chemodectoma of the carotid body must be operated on only in specialized vascular departments when reconstructive surgery on the vessels is possible in the event that resection of the carotid artery is necessary.
