Traumatic lesions and their x-ray computed tomographic aspects

In recent cranial traumas, most neuroradiological explorations are performed with computerized tomography (CT) alone. CT provides an accurate and often early diagnosis of intra-or extra-cerebral haemorrhage. In cases with multiple lesions - and these cases are frequent - it makes full evaluation possible, supplies prognostic data and facilitates therapeutic decisions. Repeated CT examinations are of assistance to follow-up the course of cranial traumas and to detect delayed or even post-operative complications. Finally, in some cases this method usefully completes the radiological evaluation of skeletal lesions, notably those involving the base of the skull and the facial bones.
