The choroidal blood flow and choroidal vascular resistance in experimental acute hypertension induced with angiotensin II were studied in twenty rabbits. The choroidal blood flow was measured by the hydrogen clearance method. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The mean femoral arterial blood pressure increased in various degrees (.DELTA.11 mmHg .apprx. .DELTA.82 mmHg), reaching the maximum pressure of 170 mmHg. 2. The choroidal blood flow, even in experimental acute hypertension, was little changed: The rank correlation between increases in the mean femoral arterial blood pressure and changes in the choroidal blood flow was not statistically significant. The rank correlation between increases in the mean femoral arterial blood pressure and femoral-choroidal vascular resistance {(mean femoral arterial blood pressure-intraocular pressure)/choroidal blood flow} was statistically significant (rs = 0.815, p < 0.001). It was suggested that most of the increases in the femoral-choroidal vascular resistance correlates with the increase in the choroidal vascular resistance on account of constriction of choroidal vessels with angiotensin II.
