Means of increasing the activity of antimicrobial preparations in suppurative diseases

In order to increase the chemotherapeutic activity in some surgical and gynecological illnesses and inflammatory processes in the urinary and biliferous organs and on the skin, the reaction of pus, urine or bile should be taken into consideration. Those antibiotics are chosen whose action increases in the test; antibiogram of the causative agent should also be taken into account. The activity of some antibiotics in these diseases (except those of the biliferous organs) can be increased by artificially changing the reaction in the inflammatory focus by employing substances with an alkaline, or, respectively, acid reaction.
