Coefficients of correlation (r) between stature, wt and number of permanent teeth emerged were calculated for 1095 Punjab children (551 boys; 544 girls), aged 6-13 yr and drawn from various schools in Chandigarh [Punjab]. All correlations were postiive and significant (except in the case of boys at age 10 yr). The correlations of number of teeth with stature were, however, generally higher than that between the number of teeth and weight. The differences proved statistically significant in the case of boys and approached significance in the case of girls. Permanent dental emergence is closely related more to stature than to weight.
