The extent of Canada's rabies problem and the legislative and practical measures for its control are given in this note by "Agriculture Canada". All the customary components of rabies control programmes are given-notification, diagnosis and surveillance, reduction of transmission, dog control, immunization and elimination of strays. Farmers are compensated for livestock losses from rabies and those individuals considered to be professionally at risk from rabies are vaccinated.
