Cardiovascular risk factors and electrocardiogrpahic findings were evaluated in a rural adult Tobago community. High amplitude R-waves, T-wave items and conduction and rhythm disturbances were the common electrocardiographc findings. Codable items suggestive of ischaemia showed no correlation with age, smoking, cholesterol levels, pulse rate or exercise, but showed a positive correlation in women with high serum uric acid levels and high fasting blood sugars levels, and a negative correlation with alcohol consumption in men.
