The clinico-laboratory symptoms of spleen affection were studied in 100 patients with active sarcoidosis. Splenomegaly that was found in 11 patients is a common extra thoracic manifestation of sarcoidosis. Moderately pronounced signs of hypersplenism were found in 3 patients with an enlarged spleen. Clinical observations show diagnostic difficulties encountered in patients with sarcoidosis and splenomegaly. An enlarged spleen in sarcoidosis is an indication of a chronic course of the disease.
