A study was made of relationships between calorie intake during pregnancy and several components of blood, urine and milk in 55 women during the first 6 months of lactation. Results indicated that the calorie intake during pregnancy was a determinant of maternal and infant nutritional status during the first 6 months of lactation. Age of the infant was inversely associated with the concn. of protein, energy and fat in human milk, possibly because of the corresponding increase in total milk vol.
