The triceps surae muscle in platyrrhine monkeys

The triceps surae muscle was examined in 15 platyrrhine monkeys [Cebus capucinus, Saimiri sciureus, Atelet oter, A. geoffroyi, Collithrix penicillata, Midas lionina and Alonatta]. Attention was paid to the development of the heads of the gastrocnemius muscle, the level of their connection and the terminal tendon. The insertions, degree of the development, and its fusion with the gastrocnemius were investigated. On the basis of performed measurements of muscles indices were calculated.
