Pressure changes were measured through the simulative procedure of Kelman's phacoemulcification using rabbit eyes. These pressure changes during closed circuit intraocular operation were evaluated for their possible damaging effects on the corneal endothelial cell. Rabbit corneal endothelium was perfused with Dikstein's method (1972) in vitro with Lactated Ringer's Solution and was loaded with continuous sine wave pressure change in perfusion system. Increasing the amplitude of the intraocular pressure change resulted in the swelling of the corneal thickness.
