Macroscopic organization and late ontogenesis of the cucullaris muscle of the domestic fowl were studied. Existing anatomical data were supplemented by relationships between the cranial parts of the cucullaris capitis, the constrictor colli, and the muscles and fasciae of the floor of the mouth, and of the latissimus dorsi. The course and organization of the vagoaccessory nerve branches and spinal nerves supplying this muscle were also described. Study of late ontogenesis of the muscle showed that, at stages HH [Hamburger-Hamilton] 30-35, it is a homogeneous whole whose innervation is identical with the adult state, but at this stage it is impossible to tell how, and from what material, it initially originated.
