Fifteen years of experience in the outpatient treatment of 350 chronic myeloleukemia patients has been generalized. Treatment should commence with myelosan or hexaphosphamide. If myelosan resistance develops, hexaphosphamid or myelobromol should be administered. Hexaphosphamide is especially efficient in patients resistant to other types of therapy, in whom exacerbation is attended by splenomegaly and a subleukemic level of blood leukocytes. The signs of preblasic state indicate the necessity of administering 6-mercaptopurine or methotrexate, vincristine and cytosar. Chronic leukemia subjects treated as outpatients remain active and capable of working for a long time.
