Condition of the apical periodontium under fixed prosthetic constructions

Crowns and bridges on vital and avital teeth place on the pulpa and periodontium through the preparation trauma, chemical and microbeal noxos and changed functional loading. Patients (196) were submitted to a clinical-roentgenological control examination: 100 vital crowned teeth (success in 86%), 100 vital bridged teeth (success in 88%), 100 avital crowned teeth (success in 64%) and 27 avital bridged teeth (success in 77,8%). The medium using time was 5.5 yr. In strict indication, exactly filled root canal and temporizing for a half year after root treatment the participation of avital teeth in prosthetic constructions is possible.
