Haloperidol decanoate injected every 4 weeks is a very important basic therapy for the treatment of chronic psychiatric patients. The results of this investigation compared to a long-term treatment with neuroleptic polytherapy showed a superior action of HDD monotherapy in chronic schizophrenia. The dosage schema can be adapted individually whenever necessary. Antiparkinson medication could be reduced and sometimes omitted.
