Sarcoidosis is a multisystem disorder accompanied with profound immunologic alterations of which the innermost mechanisms have not been elucidated. Findings were reported on the major histocompatibility system and complement polymorphism (complotype) in 1 patient and 3 healthy members of his family, in an effort to elucidate some genetical factors that could be involved in this disease. The presence of genome recombination was found in the small arm of chromosome 6 of the patient, which embraced the complement to the glyoxalase region.
