The experimental model of acute pneumonia induced by the intratracheal inoculation of rats with P. aeruginosa strains has been developed; the use of this model permits the quantitative evaluation of the contamination of respiratory organs with this microorganism, as well as the development of schemes for the antimicrobial therapy of P. aeruginosa infection. The correlation between the severity of experimental pneumonia induced by P. aeruginosa and the production of pathogenicity factors by these microorganisms has been revealed.
