A case is reported in a 52-yr-old man who presented twice with facial tinea. The first presentation of an annular scalp lesion was accompanied by tinea corporis, cruris and pedis and was treated successfully with oral griseofulvin (500 mg twice daily for 2 weeks), followed by topical miconazole nitrate cream for the feet. One yr later the patient presented with tinea barbae, whih was initially misdiagnosed. After a review of his past history, therapy with oral griseofulvin (250 mg, 4 times a day) was initiated. Trichophyton mentagrophytes was cultured from skin scraping. The lesion cleared following therapy with oral griseofulvin and topical miconazole nitrate.
