Dry and wet bates are applied in the East Germany for the protection of grain seeds against infections by fungi. Because organo-mercury compounds are toxic to warm-blooded animals the legal limits have to be followed strictly. Corresponding measures of security are proposed for the case of an intoxication with Hg in animals and men, respectively. For cattle a biological half-life period of the elimination of 125 days (muscular flesh) was found.
