Surgical treatment of malignant tracheal and bronchial tumors in young patients

The study group included 45 patients under 30 years suffering from malignant tumors of the trachea, bronchus and lung. 38 cases were operated on. Of them, 18 survived for 1-11 years and 11 died within 1-5 years after surgery. Timely detection of tumor makes the case for surgical treatment except broncho--pulmonary cancer which may be treated by surgery only in cases of localized nonmetastasizing tumor.
