Vaginal candidiasis is a common condition seen in sexually transmitted disease clinics. The prevalence of various predisposing factors encountered in patients with vaginal candidiasis is presented. Anemia, not previously reported as a predisposing factor, was present in 30% of the patients. Patients (10%) had positive VDRL [venereal disease research laboratory test (syphilis)] and another 10% had history of other sexually transmitted diseases. Pruritus vulvae is the most common presentation but vulvitis is seen in only half.
