Hypoglycemia, jaundice and shock complicating relapsing fever

A case of a 63 yr old Bedouin who suffered from relapsing fever is described. Multiple systems failure was observed, including jaundice, hypoglycemia, renal failure, myocardial damage and thrombocytopenia. The patient died of shock and irreversible acidosis 6 h after admission.
