Animal models for Chagas' disease are reviewed with reference to examples of investigations in dogs, monkeys and rabbits. The diversity of methodological approaches and hence difficulties in the interpretation and comparison of results are emphasized. The need for a suitable model presenting all stages of the infection in man is stressed.
