Incidence of dental caries in Australian public high school children 12 years old resident in Sydney suburbs was studied in 1982, and the findings were compared with those of a similar 1963 study. There was a major improvement in dental health between 1963 and 1982, presumably because, in the interval, Sydney's water supply was fluoridated and fluoridated toothpastes became available.
