Maintenance and protective effect of 131-I-labeled anti-swine erysipelas serum in blood of specific-pathogen-free piglets

In SPF piglets injected s/c with anti-swine erysipelas horse gamma-globulin labelled with I-131, radioactivity in the circulating blood reached a maximum count (about half of the injected dose) 24 hours after injection, and then decreased at an exponential rate. The biological half-life of the antibody was about 11.5 days in piglets injected with 20 ml of labelled antiserum per 10 kg of body weight, and about 10.6 days in those injected with 2 ml/10 kg.
