Lipids and lipoprotein values in normal children

Serum, from 45 normal children 2 to 12 years old with no family history of ischaemic heart disease, hypercholesterolaemia and hyperlipoproteinaemia, contained cholesterol 166.2, triglyceride 57.2, low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol 80, very LDL cholesterol 11 and high density lipoprotein cholesterol 75 mg/100 ml. Sex had no effect on serum lipid and lipoprotein values, but children from higher socio-economic status or eating saturated fat had greater values. Only 1 child had hyperlipoproteinaemia.
