The absorption-elution-method (AEM) was tested for purification and concentration of 2 concentrates of influenza-A-virus antigens. The antigens were cleared off parallel to AEM with ultracentrifugation. The AEM was a simple laboratory method for the purification of antigen of influenza-A virus for ELISA [enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay]. Its application required a certain degree of prepurification of the antigen. A comparative test of 72 serums of patients with both preparations of antigens gave no difference regarding specificity and sensitivity.
