Hydatid cyst of the lung. Review of 100 cases

The cases of 100 patients with pulmonary hydatid cyst treated surgically at a clinic in Madrid, Spain, over a 10-year period are reviewed with respect to clinical picture, diagnosis and treatment. In patients with a unilateral cyst the right lung was affected in 47 and the left lung in 43. The most frequent operation (in 77 cases) was enucleation plus complete or partial pericystectomy. The most serious complications were 2 deaths from anaphylactic shock.
