Three groups of schoolchildren, 7 to 13 years old, in Vila Sao Vicente, Belo Honzonte, Brazil, werestudied. In Group I, 191 of 250 were treated withthiabendazole, 59 remaining untreated as controls: Ascaris lumbricoides was present in 133, hookwormin 59, Trichuris trichiura in 126 and Strongyloides stercoralis in 62. In Group II (20 children), all had Enterobius vermicularis; 10 were treated with thiabendazole and 10 with pyrvinium pamoate. In Group III, all of the 60 children were infected with A. lumbricoides; 40 were treated with tetramisole and 20 kept as untreated controls. Examinations monthly after treatment showed a high percentage to be reinfected 5 months later. The paper is illustrated by 5 tables, 3 graphs and one plate and the authors discuss the implication of their findings.
