This paper reviewed 42 published evaluations of AIDS education programs for adolescents. Most of the interventions lasted for less than 3 hours and involved films, lectures, group discussions, or role-playing. Frequent research weaknesses were a lack of randomly-assigned control groups, behavioral measures, follow-up measures, and valid and reliable measures. The most successful interventions involved the adolescents physically and emotionally by using role-playing and skills training and lasted for longer than 3 hours.
