Dermatobia hominis comes to Boston

The case is reported of a student from Venezuela in Boston, Massachusetts, with a painful penile swelling that did not respond to treatment with erythromycin or tetracycline. A larva identified as Dermatobia hominis L. jr. was eventually expressed by the patient through a small opening in the skin. The patient was aware of having been bitten by a mosquito on a beach near Caracas about a month previously.
