In the course of the last 25 years 468 fractures of the calcaneus were seen at the Surgical Dept. of Olomouc-University. In cases of extraarticular and non-dislocated intraarticular types satisfactory results can be obtained by conservative treatment. The criterion for surgical therapy is not only a reduction of Böhler's angle, but especially dislocation of the posterior articular surface of the calcaneus.
