Epidemiology of ethmoid carcinoma in bovines

An investigation was carried out on the ethmoid tumor in bovines during a 2-yr period from 1977 to 1979. The tumor occurred in an endemic form as seen in 139 cases. Although all breeds of cattle were affected, the incidence was greater in cross-bred Jersey cattle. No sex specificity was observed. A highest incidence was found in the 7-10 yr age group. Incidence was recorded throughout the year in all districts of the state. There was an increase in the cases in the months of July and Aug. Pregnancy exacerbated the clinical symptoms in cows.
