Note on proteosynthetic activity of the trophoblast

The proportion of free and bound ribosomes in the plasmoditrophoblast of the human placenta was determined in the 2nd and 10th lunar month of pregnancy. Their ratio at these stages of development was constant but reciprocal comparison of the 2 stages showed significant differences. Significance and possible mechanism of this finding are discussed.
