Comfrey is a fast-growing leafy perennial, widely grown as a garden herb and less often as a green feed for farm animals.1'2 It is widely consumed by humans as a medicinal herb, as a salad plant, and as a herbal infusion or tea. In view of an increasing popularity of herbal remedies worldwide the potential toxicity of comfrey should be more widely known.
