This is the report on a seminar held in Ouagadougou in 1979, attended by participants from 13 West African countries. It was designed for those involved in managing rice projects and aimed to cover management problems and to provide methodologies for dealing with them. Project identification, execution and evaluation as well as various organizational and agro-technical aspects of fieldwork were among the topics discussed. The report is in three parts. The first deals with background to, objectives and programme of the seminar; the second covers seminar content; and the third outlines the recommendations. There are nine annexes including the full programme, lists of participants and the opening and closing addresses.
