In the brain of 2nd instar A. mylitta larvae there are 3 groups of neurosecretory cells (NSC), medial, lateral and posterior. Three types of NSC (A, B and C) were distinguished. The number and the secretory activity of the NSC showed a definite correlation to the molting cycle.
