Analysis was made of the doppleroechocardiography data obtained in 27 normal subjects, 9 patients with functional systolic murmur of the heart and 65 patients with different congenital heart diseases. In the normal subjects and in functional murmur, the blood flow in the heart chambers and at the base of the main vessels was laminar in nature. The patients with congenital heart diseases showed, in different percentage of the cases, turbulent systolic blood flows in some parts of the heart, these flows being proportional to the disease pattern and direction of blood discharge. Dopplerocardiographic localization of the turbulent blood flow appears to enable a tentative differential diagnosis of congenital heart diseases, since the method under consideration is close to intracardiac phonocardiography as far as its potentialities are concerned.
