To evaluate the efficacy and safety of bromopride, the drug was compared with metoclopramide and placebo in a double-blind experiment lasting 30 days and including 126 patients with duodenal ulcer. In the 2 groups of patients receiving bromopride or metoclopramide at the average dose of 40 mg/day, the frequency and extent of symptomatology remission as well as the reduction in the amount of antacid needed significantly greater than in the group given placebo. Both bromopride and metoclopramide were well tolerated.
