Malacoplakia: an unusual etiology of ureteral obstruction

A 39-yr old woman presented with progressive fatigue, anorexia and weight loss. When a pelvic mass and left hydronephrosis were discovered, a malignant process was thought to be the most likely diagnosis. After surgical exploration the clinical picture was found to be the result of 2 unrelated benign conditions, one common, leiomyomata uteri and one uncommon, malacoplakia.
