By extraction of dill fruits (Anethum graveolens L.) with benzine, an oil (10% yield) was obtained, and its physico-chemical properties were estimated. The oil was saponified, and its non-saponifiable fraction (2%) was used for separation of sterol acetates. By thin-layer chromatography five compounds were detected, among which acetates of .beta.-sitosterol and .beta.-dihydrositosterol were isolated and identified. In the coumarin fraction obtained by separation 14 compounds were found by chromatographic procedure. By column chromatography 6 crystalline compounds were isolated, one of them being identified as imperatorin and another as umbelliprenin. The next 5 compounds had chromatographic properties similar to those found in the standards of bergapten, esculetin, 4-methylesculetin, umbelliferone and scopoletin.
